Consignment Shopping

Here in Columbus a traveling consignment comes once a year. It's called "New 2 U" and it's out of Tupelo, MS. It happened to be this week and boy am I glad I went! 3 smocked Christmas outfits, one smocked pull-over, 5 pairs of pants, 2 pairs of PJ's, 7 shirts, 3 winter hats, 3 sweaters, and a pair of new balance later, I came out with some BARGAINS! AND, I got all this for under $100!!!! So pumped.
SOme of my favorite finds was this Janie and Jack outfit. Only $7.00. Nice!
This was a splurge on my part. I've never seen a smocked pull-over. Are you kidding?! And his love for trucks right now?! PERFECT!
I've also been looking for him a pair of shoes to wear outside when he plays. And who cares if they get dirty....they were only $4.00!! PERFECT!
Saving now for next year's weekend! ;)

Tibbee Highschool

I do a lot of local traveling for my job. It isn't bad at all honestly. The farthest I have to drive is about 35 minutes away. I love traveling as it gets me out of the office and gives me "early" days off throughout the month. SO NICE! I see some pretty crazy things in the areas I have to travel. I can across this just this week. The sign reads: "Tibbee High School Founded 1861-1933". Is that not insane?! A piece of history for sure....

2nd Haircut!

Lee was in DESPERATE need of a haircut this week. It was frizzy, long, and just out of control. We took him to a new place here in Columbus. Doesn't he look like such a big boy, now?! :)
(18 months old)

School's In!

School started back up for Lee and Phillip this week. It was as smooth of a transition for both of them as I could of imagined honestly. I was a little worried about Lee starting at his new school due to all the changes of being in a "toddler" room instead of the newborn room he was used to. For example, they no longer take naps in cribs--now its a cot that sits low to the ground. He doesn't eat lunch in a high chair but instead a table and sitting in a chair. Only one nap a day and that's scheduled to be around noon-2pm. He was such a big boy on the first day and walked right in like he'd been going for years. The director of the daycare is actually our next door neighbor which is a huge blessing in my eyes. She knows us personally now which is nice. Lee is attending the daycare on campus where Phillip is teaching college. The education students will be starting in the next couple of weeks visiting the different classes at the daycare. They will be doing lessons, music lessons, art lessons, etc.. Such a great experience for all included. :)
Lee was in quite the "picture taking" mood the morning of his first day. :)
He wanted to put on his backpack. It was a little heavier than normal due to it being the first day. He loved it though! :) Such a big boy!

His new favorite activity while being outside is smelling flowers, plants, etc.. It's adorable.

When we got to school, Lee walked right into his classroom and took his teacher's hand. He quickly found the mound of new toys to explore. He's going to have a blast this year!

Ms. Chandra is his new teacher. She has been at MUW for 18 years. She's a pro. And we love her!
I went to pick him up and he'd had a WONDERFUL day. Ms. Chandra said he did so well! I was impressed. He sat and ate lunch like the other kids and even took his first nap on his cot. She said it took a little while for him to realize he couldn't play during nap time, but once he figured that out, he ended up sleeping for 2 1/2 hours! :) Happy momma! :)
We all celebrated a successful first day by getting some yogurt before heading home.
Phillip had a great first day as well and is very excited about this upcoming school year. Can't wait to see/hear all his choirs at the first concert! :)

Pinterest Alert!

I've been at it again....saw this American flag the other day and wanted one. Phillip made me the boards a couple weeks back and I finally was able to paint it on Sunday. I'm NO painter or artist for that matter....but I did my best. I love how it turned out! :)
This was my inspiration....

Now we just need to get it hung! I love it! :)

Crazy Bird Lady (ies)....

It's an on-going joke with my mom that she has quickly become the crazy bird lady. She loves birds and has about a trillion bird feeders in the backyard. Well she's got me on humming birds lately. I have two feeders and just love these type birds. They amaze me! :) I was standing near our window talking on the phone the other day and this little sucker just came flying up like I wasn't even there. These pictures are not zoomed at all. CRAZY!

I guess I need to be careful as I feel like I'm slowing becoming the "crazy" one! :)

Beach Vacation!

Last week we loaded up early Thursday morning and headed down to Gulf Shores for the weekend. We haven't had a family vacation like this in a really long time. We all were SO excited to get away for a couple of days. We had a BLAST! I was a little worried with out Lee would react to the beach....but there was no need. HE LOVED IT! He played in the sand....went out in the ocean....picked up seashells, etc.. He had a ball! I thought we'd spend all weekend at the pool but that didn't happen. We literally jumped in the pool on the last day for a couple of minutes just to try it out. We will definitely be going back ASAP.

This was his first look at the beach from our balcony. He was looking at the pool and was enamored with the pool at first. My parents have a pool and he loves it.
Heading down for the first time. Too cute!
My parents (last minute) decided to come down and stay for a couple of days also. They didn't stay in the same hotel but close enough. We had a great time!
First steps into the ocean. It took him a little while to come around to the ocean, but the sand he was all about!
Playing with his sand toys Yaya and Papa (Phillip's parents) got him. They aren't huge fans of the beach, but they definitely equipped Lee with some GREAT toys!!
Sweet boy after dinner the first night. He had been up since 6am with NO nap ALL day. I was so proud of him. He hardly fussed through dinner and was still awake at 7:00pm. :)
Mom made him his very own sand bucket to collect seashells in. He got to where he wanted to pick up EVERY shell he found and throw them in his bucket. We've got to work on carefully placing them in the bucket for next time... :)
Early morning walk on the beach. Early mornings are my absolute favorite time to be at the beach....and Lee agreed. Daddy was still in bed so we slipped out quietly and had ourselves a good time!
Lee became quite the pro at washing his feet off before coming into the hotel. He would watch us and then had to do it all by himself! Such a little stinker!
Yet another toy Yaya and Papa bought him for the beach. I'm telling ya....they can pick out the best toys! :)
Seashell hunting....
This was the second night before dinner. Lee was NOT in the mood to get any pictures taken so we snapped this one quickly. I think it turned out pretty cute considering his mood....
Love this man so much! :)
Nana and Lee LOVED feeding the seagulls goldfish. I'm sure our beach neighbors LOVED having all the birds flying over their heads. Lee would throw one and then eat one. He thought it was great!
Our last morning finding more seashells to take home. We had a great time!!

His loot! :)

On our way out of town we stopped for a late lunch at Sea 'N Suds. I had never eaten here before but Phillip had. He loves the food and said its a must stop for us. I'm sure glad we did! DELICIOUS!
Crab claws are a must for me when I visit the beach. YUMM!!
Not sure what Lee was looking at during this picture! :)
Last (and only) group picture of all of us before we headed back home. We already are missing the beach and ready to go back! Maybe this fall?? :)
And of course its not a visit to Gulf Shores without visiting the "shark" store! :) Lee wan't quite as impressed as I thought he should be.....haha! Maybe next year...
GREAT family vacay!!!! Can't wait until the next one! :)
