5/6/10

Phillip's parents missed us so much (for the week they were home) they decided to turn right around and come for another visit!! :) Only kidding...they actually already had planned that they would attend Phillip's last concert at Mandarin. It just so happened to fall a week after we went to Disney with them. While they were here, we got LOTS done around the house and started the packing process. I was told to make a "to-do" list for us to get done while they were here....

We were able to get majority of the list done plus some that wasn't listed. They were a huge help because they gave us the "jump start" that we needed to get this awful moving process started. Although we are excited to get to Oxford and start a new phase in our lives, we are not excited about the adventure it will be to get us there.

Now, although it feels and looks like we worked 24/7, I can assure you we didn't. We scheduled some fun things into the week/end as well. Sunday after church, Melinda and Thomas went with us up to the Fernindina Shrimp Festival. We had an absolute blast!

First meal of the day....shrimp pie. It was absolutely delicious!
After this, we ate fried shrimp, a shrimp twister, a corn dog and french fries.
We were stuffed.

Tuesday evening was Phillip's last concert at Mandarin High. Phillip did a great job, as usual, and the kids sounded awesome. Towards the end of the concert, Phillip got up and told the crowd that he would not be returning as the choral director next year. He explained to them about Ole Miss and how we would be moving in June. His kids gave a standing "shout out" which brought tears to my eyes. I'm not an emotional person, but to see the impact my husband made on his kids lives is such a great feeling. His kids bought him a mini Ole Miss football helmet and wrote him a poem (which will be a separate post all together..) as his "going-away" gift. We are going to miss those kids...
