Baby Steps

SUCCESS!!

Lee has been sleeping in the cradle in our room since he got home from the hospital. With breast feeding, it's been easier having him right there. To make the transition easier, we have started taking naps in the crib. At first he hated it....wouldn't do it. Yesterday, he took almost an hour nap. I've quickly realized it's the small baby steps as a mother that are extremely exciting!

He looks pretty comfortable to me...what about you?! ;0)

SPRING!

I love spring time!
Besides the nasty weather that comes with, it's my favorite time of the year.

The in-laws bought me this bird feeder last year at Double Decker. Couldn't wait to put it out in the yard at the new house. We actually have some beautiful blue birds that have made it their home for this year.

These Lillie's are out by our mailbox. We almost cut them down when we moved in because they looked awful and we didn't think they would ever bloom. SO glad we didn't! :)

Hope you are enjoying spring time as much as we are!

One Month!

Our baby boy turned a month old on Sunday! Can't believe it. We have thoroughly enjoyed the short month of being parents! We can't wait to see how he grows and watch his little personality develop even more in the coming months.

Some things to remember (mainly for our own records!) from month #1:

-his first outing was Chilis! Momma was going stir crazy and ready to get out of the house by day 5!
-his first official babysitter was Nana and grandad! Phillip and I had to go buy a car and during that process, they watched him for a couple hours. He did great of course! ;)
-We have already cycled through a couple different formulas trying to find the right one. We have somewhat of a picky eater on our hands. We are using formula to supplement here and there so I can freeze some breast milk to store. We have settled on Similac....for now.
-By week 4, Lee is sleeping roughly 4 hour stretches during the night which means only one nighttime feeding!! Yay!
-Lee had his first doctors appointment at week 2. He checked out great! The doctor was pleased with everything. He weighed in at 8lbs.. Next appointment starts the shots....no fun. :(
-Lee is starting to smile and coo especially during bath time.
-Lee LOVES bath time and walks outside. If he is a little fussy, all we have to do is put him in the stroller and walk outside. He loves, loves, loves it!
-He loves his swing! Lee takes his best naps while swinging. Thank you Lord, for inventing the swing! :0)
-Lee enjoys riding in the car. He'll either sleep or sit wide eyed looking all around. When the mirror is positioned correctly, he loves looking at himself! :)
-Lee loves his daddy! He will lock eyes with him and just stare....can't wait to see how their relationship grows!
-We are thinking Lee will either have green eyes or brown. They are changing constantly depending on the light.
-Lee is completely out of newborn clothes and the size 1 diapers are starting to fit a little more snug.
-He will allow pretty much anyone to hold him....especially feed him. He isn't hard to console when upset and usually quiets down with a little moving around. I love that I'm not the only one that can console....although sometimes he just needs his momma (which is fine by me!) ;)

We are enjoying being parents SO much. It's definitely the most rewarding thing we have ever done. We are completely in love with our little boy and now can't imagine life without him. Can't believe we have started month 2 already.....

The pictures below are our month by month pictures we have started. Hopefully month #2 will go a little more smoothly. He's still a precious boy though, isn't he?! :)

Church Baby!

Lee is 3 weeks old today! Can't believe we are down to a week until he reaches the 1 month mark. I know it's a bit cliche to say, but time really does fly by when you have kids. I can't believe that he is almost a month old.

He went to church for the first time today and wore an outfit from when Phillip was a baby. He did great at church, sleeping almost the entire time! During the invitation he started getting hungry so I walked out with him and fed him a bottle. Luckily, he saved a major blow out for after I left the service! :) When we got home, I wanted to get a couple pictures of him in his outfit. A "few" turned into 30.....ok, so maybe I'm just a BIT obsessed with my son. But c'mon, who wouldn't be?! He's just too cute! ;)

This next one was obviously when I knew to quit.
Bless his heart. :)

Sneak Peak!

We had Lee's newborn photo session done this morning at the house. A good friend is starting a photography business and offered to come over and do these for us. She was awesome and took some wonderful pictures. If you are in the Oxford area and looking for a great photographer, PLEASE let me know! I'd be happy to give out her contact info. Click here to visit her website. We are SO excited to see the rest of the prints.

Below is a "sneak peak" of a couple she sent me this afternoon!!

ENJOY!

(this is one Phillip actually took with his phone!)

WAR EAGLE!

In honor of the baseball series this weekend at Ole Miss, we made sure to represent while going to bed this week!! War Eagle!

Splish Splash....

.....I LOVED MY FIRST BATH!!!!!

(Thank you, Nana for my adorable appliqué towel)

Beer Bread!

A friend of ours came over a couple months back for dinner and brought over the most delicious bread! Of course we asked for the recipe and she assured us it would be the easiest bread we would ever make. Low and behold she was right! :) It is titled "beer bread" because you use a warm beer as half of your ingredients. Obviously the yeast in the beer is what reacts with the self rising flower to make the bread rise.

This bread recipe calls for flower, sugar, butter and a warm beer. Probably most of us have all these ingredients already in the kitchen! Seriously the easiest recipe I've followed in a while. Let me know if you're interested!

My most honest critic (when I venture to make something new) is my wonderful husband and it surpassed his taste test. He LOVED it!! Oh yeah. :)

Mommy Mobile!

Bye bye Honda Civic.....you've been a great car for the past 10 years!! Sorry your life ended in a ditch.....

Hello mommy mobile!
Hopefully you can live up to the civics expectations!

Bliss

I love ALL my babies....truly do! But, when this happens all at once during the day, it makes me one happy momma! ;)

2 Week Check-up!

Friday we visited the pediatrician for the first time. Lee got a glowing report and Dr. Sanford said that he is the type baby he LOVES to see at this point in the game. He checked everything out, weighed him, checked his ears, eyes, etc.. He was very pleased with what he saw.

Lee has officially gained another pound! We have an 8lb. baby now folks! I'm telling ya, this baby loves to eat! He is in the 76% for height and 33% for weight. Dr. Sanford said that at his next visit (which is in 4 weeks) we will start with shots. :(

We had one happy baby on our hands throughout the whole visit. We were a bit worried with the morning we had with him (fussy because of some gas buildup), but he came through like a champ! He loves his doctor....at least this visit. :)

LOVE!

Through all the hussell and bussell of the past couple of weeks, I completely forgot to post about this wonderful present my sweet husband gave me in the hospital the night of Lee's birth. This is obviously the birthstone of Lee's birth month. How special?!

LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!

February 26, 2012

(First family picture of three.....)

First off, let me just say that I will get better with blogging once things start to slow down around here. I am writing this out mainly for myself as a "journal" of the day....read if you would like. You may get bored. Enjoy! :)

As everyone already knows, our sweet baby boy made his entrance into the world on February 26, 2012 at 10:59pm. What a LONG day it was! :) I was going in to be induced that Sunday evening at 6pm. The doctor was sure that he probably not make it into the world until sometime Monday if that were the case.

That weekend started off normally. My parents were in town and we had done some shopping and LOTS of walking leading up to the weekend. I was still holding out hope that he would come on his own, but after being almost 5 days late, I figured it may not happen. Saturday the 25th rolled around and I was starting to have some contractions. They got to be within 5 minutes apart and stayed that way for over 2 hours. Phillip and I decided to go in to the hospital due to what the doctor said.

We ended up getting sent home later that night due to the fact they may have just been some painful braxton hicks. I did have to get fluid after the baby's heartbeat dropped below normal a couple of times. Apparently I was a little dehydrated....good thing we went in, I guess! They did end up checking me twice in which I was still only 1 cm and about 50% effaced. Oh well...I knew the next day we would be back so it wasn't a big deal to me at all.

Sunday morning around 3am, I started getting pretty painful contractions. That's when I'm sure labor started. As the morning progressed, they got more and more painful and closer and closer together. I was supposed to show up at the hospital at 6pm to get the process started and at 2:30pm the contractions got to where they were hurting pretty badly. We decided to go in a little early so I could get a little pain medicine to help ease the pain. SO glad we did.

I got to the hospital around 2:45pm and they immediately "checked" me. I was already 100% effaced and dialted to a 3. The nurse couldn't believe how much I had changed since just the night before. I continued to have contractions throughout the evening. I stayed a 3 until about 6pm that night. They gave me some patocin to help things along and immediately the contractions started getting stronger and stronger! OUCH!

By 7pm, they came back to check me and I had dialated to a 5. They asked if I wanted the epidural and I immediately answered with a YES! 7:30 the epidural was administered and I automatically felt like a brand new woman! :) I progressed very quickly from there on and reached a 10 by about 10:00pm that night. 10:59pm our baby boy was born into this world and what a cute little thing he is! What a crazy/wild/insane/fun/exciting/interesting and painful day it was! :)
