First off, let me just say that I will get better with blogging once things start to slow down around here. I am writing this out mainly for myself as a "journal" of the day....read if you would like. You may get bored. Enjoy! :)
As everyone already knows, our sweet baby boy made his entrance into the world on February 26, 2012 at 10:59pm. What a LONG day it was! :) I was going in to be induced that Sunday evening at 6pm. The doctor was sure that he probably not make it into the world until sometime Monday if that were the case.
That weekend started off normally. My parents were in town and we had done some shopping and LOTS of walking leading up to the weekend. I was still holding out hope that he would come on his own, but after being almost 5 days late, I figured it may not happen. Saturday the 25th rolled around and I was starting to have some contractions. They got to be within 5 minutes apart and stayed that way for over 2 hours. Phillip and I decided to go in to the hospital due to what the doctor said.
We ended up getting sent home later that night due to the fact they may have just been some painful braxton hicks. I did have to get fluid after the baby's heartbeat dropped below normal a couple of times. Apparently I was a little dehydrated....good thing we went in, I guess! They did end up checking me twice in which I was still only 1 cm and about 50% effaced. Oh well...I knew the next day we would be back so it wasn't a big deal to me at all.
Sunday morning around 3am, I started getting pretty painful contractions. That's when I'm sure labor started. As the morning progressed, they got more and more painful and closer and closer together. I was supposed to show up at the hospital at 6pm to get the process started and at 2:30pm the contractions got to where they were hurting pretty badly. We decided to go in a little early so I could get a little pain medicine to help ease the pain. SO glad we did.
I got to the hospital around 2:45pm and they immediately "checked" me. I was already 100% effaced and dialted to a 3. The nurse couldn't believe how much I had changed since just the night before. I continued to have contractions throughout the evening. I stayed a 3 until about 6pm that night. They gave me some patocin to help things along and immediately the contractions started getting stronger and stronger! OUCH!
By 7pm, they came back to check me and I had dialated to a 5. They asked if I wanted the epidural and I immediately answered with a YES! 7:30 the epidural was administered and I automatically felt like a brand new woman! :) I progressed very quickly from there on and reached a 10 by about 10:00pm that night. 10:59pm our baby boy was born into this world and what a cute little thing he is! What a crazy/wild/insane/fun/exciting/interesting and painful day it was! :)
