MMEA

Phillip was gone last week attending a conference in Missouri. It was the first time I've been left home alone with Lee for almost a week. Phew!! I'm not cut out to be a single mother, that's for sure! :) Phillip's research project was accepted and he presented his research at this conference. We were very happy to have him home Saturday evening....and he even came bearing gifts!! He brought Lee his very first morocco he found at one of the booths during the conference.

Lee absolutely LOVED it! He didn't want to put it down all night.

He also brought me a scarf he found at the same booth as the morocco! So thoughtful!!

Welcome back, daddy! Now don't leave us again. ;)

Handsome Date!

I don't think I could of found a more handsome of a date for dinner tonight than this guy.....

Phillip is out of town until Saturday and we needed a night out of the house. Why not Mexican?! :) Lee also tried Mexican rice for the first time....and liked it!!

Lee's new "thing" is he wants to share whatever he is eating with you. He won't stop until he knows its in your mouth completely. Cheerios were the "share" of choice at this point. :)

We had a great time together!! We are missing daddy....but I think we are managing ok... :)

New Beginnings

Yesterday was our last Sunday at our old church in New Albany, Bethlehem United Methodist. We had some tearful goodbyes but the "send off" was such a loving experience.

Phillip was approached a couple weeks back about an interim position here in Oxford at Oxford University Methodist Church (OU). We were immediately torn with the decision of do we leave or do we stay?! The new church provided a pay increase and being in town. The 45 minute drive (twice on Sundays) was all but killing us in time and in gas. We prayed together about the decision and decided it was where we needed to be. Phillip will start his new position the first week in February.

With all that said and done, we are excited about the move, but sad to leave our sweet friends in New Albany. This church provided lots of "firsts" for us....Phillip's first church to serve in, Lee's first church/where he was dedicated, etc.. We will never forget the people and memories we have made there. Although, I'm not sure that will happen anyway, we already have dinner plans with a sweet couple for next weekend!

On to new beginnings....Not better, not worse, just new. Thank you Lord for your guidance in our lives. We sure couldn't survive on our own without it.

Jesus Calling

Mom and dad are in town this weekend for a visit and brought me this....

...so excited about a new year, new beginnings, new memories, and new devotions!! I'm hoping that blogging about it will keep me accountable! :) Don't worry, I'll be sure to share what I'm reading about. Stay tuned...

Brush Brush Brush!

We LOVE to brush our own teeth....

We also love to play with our tooth brush....

We especially like to watch ourselves brush our teeth....

All clean!!!

Hide and Peas!

I've noticed lately that Lee likes to take his food, mostly peas, that he's eating and "hide" them in his cup holder.

At first I assumed he would do this with all of his food. Nope. Just his peas (and occasional carrot). Anything sweet? Absolutely not. Just the veggies. :)

Weather Whirlwind!

What a crazy weather week here in Mississippi. Last Saturday it was almost 70 degrees outside. Beautiful!! Although Lee had a fever all day, we were able to get out some and enjoy it!

Monday brought an ice storm that lasted two days! Schools closed early both days (as did my work).

And today, brought SNOW! That's right....the pretty white stuff that I didn't think we'd see until possible next year.

Lee wasn't too impressed. He's still (obviously) too young to play in it....although he enjoyed looking at it!

We'll see what the weekend holds. Maybe another sunny nice one! :)

Homemade Chicken Stew

Ingredients:
-4 chicken breasts cooked
-2 cans diced tomatoes
-1 can cream style corn
-1 cup ketchup
-1 tbsp minced onion flakes
-1 bag of shoestring potatoes
-dash of hot sauce
-salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
cook chicken and shred. Keeping the broth, set both aside. Add all other ingredients to crock pot, then fill with shredded chicken and chicken broth about 1/2 way to the top (about an inch over the other ingredients). Cook on low 6-8 hours. We added some instant potatoes to thicken it up towards the end. Fool proof and delicious!!

P.S. if your husband can make homemade corn bread as good as mine can....I would add as a side!! We didn't have corn meal....otherwise we'd had some tonight!! :)

Sick Baby!

This little boy has been under the weather the past couple of days. Bless his heart! His fever peaked on Saturday at 102.4. Ugh. He was pitiful. He had no other symptoms except this pesky fever and what I believe was an achy body.

At one point, we had to get in the bath because he was so hot to the touch. A cool bath helped him feel better.

On Saturday, the sun came out for a little while so we got dressed and went swinging for a bit.

On Sunday, while Phillip was at church, we stayed home and rested. When he got home, we packed up and went to yaya's. Frozen yogurt is SURE to help a fever, right?! I think it helped.

He required a little extra love and care, and some rocking to sleep at night from momma. Finally, this boy is back to normal. Phew!

Annual Stockton Duckhunt

Lee enjoyed a quick visit with Papa this weekend! Tony came over for their annual father/son duck hunt this weekend. They had a great hunt and helped stock pile our freezer with some duck meat. Thanks guys! Friday was really pretty outside so we headed up to the square to walk around.

Saturday, Tony and Phillip hung Lee's new swing for him. Lee loves it!!

We enjoyed the visit, papa. Come back soon!

10 Months!

(I know this is 2 weeks late. We've been so busy we can barely see straight!!)

Lee turned 10 months on December 26, 2012! And I've started planning his first birthday! Are you kidding?! Ugh. My baby boy is growing up! ;)

It's getting harder and harder to capture some good pictures of him laying down....or just sitting still for that matter. I'm having to be creative in cutting and pasting some of the pictures....oh well. It works.

Some things to remember from Month 10:
-Lee weighed in (about a month ago now...) at 24.8 lbs. He is somewhere in the 80th percentile for weight. He's still pretty tall and comes by the size of his head naturally! ;)
-Lee experienced his first allergic reaction this month. He is officially allergic to penicillin. Broke out into a horrible looking rash!
-Lee was dedicated at church this month! What a special time it was for us as parents and for our family. We are so blessed.
-Lee loves shaking his head "no"...even at obvious "yes" questions it's always "no!"
-He is crawling around EVERYWHERE! Would rather be crawling than just about anything else!
-He is still obsessed with anything Mickey.
-Lee is in size 12-18 month close and in-between sizes on shoes. He can wear some 3's but really needs a 4!
-He is still in a size 4 diaper....but they are getting a bit snug!
-Lee no longer takes a bottle in the morning and we are weaning him off his "snack" mid-morning bottle. He usually eats cereal, fruit, yogurt, ect. for breakfast; veggies with crackers, yogurt, and a 4oz. bottle, ect., for lunch; and dinner consists of a meat, veggies and usually something sweet! He is still wanting a little snack in between lunch and dinner also. Usually consists of a 4oz. bottle and some puffs, a cracker, ect..
-Some of his favorite "adult" foods are peas, cooked carrots (cut up), crackers, cheese and recently, shaved turkey.
-He's mastered the sippy, and i truly think he prefers that over the bottle.
-Lee is still taking a full bottle before bed. It's just part of our routine....not sure I want to break that one yet! ;)
-We have started brushing our teeth now before bed. He doesn't mind it nearly what I thought he would. He's even taken the tooth brush a time or two on his own and brushed away!
-Lee celebrated his very first Christmas this year. He was spoiled and loved on by all our friends and family!
-Lee has 3 teeth up top and 2 on bottom. He's also starting to get a 4th up top....they are coming in with a vengeance!
-Lee is sleeping through the night successfully and has been for about a month now. It only took about 3 nights of letting him realize he can sooth himself, before he was sleeping the night away!! He goes to bed around 7:30/7:45 and usually wakes up between 7-8. Last Saturday, he slept until 8:30am!!! It was heavenly!
-Lee loves saying "dada" and occasionally will say "mama"...
-He is still absolutely obsessed with the dogs. Loves everything about them!
-We are starting to see somewhat of a stubborn side coming out as well. He has "pitched a fit" a time or two....it isn't pretty.
-He understands the word "no" but only about 50% of the time follows it.

That's about all I have (or that I can remember) from month 10! It was a busy and eventful month. We can't believe our sweet boy is almost one!! Crazy how time flies when your having fun!

And last but not least....I love this picture below! I can just see his little mind working as he plays with two cars his cousin triston gave him. So sweet!

Happy 10 months, sweet baby boy!! We love you very much!

Happy Birthday, Grandad!

We love you!!

5 Year Anniversery!

We decided to spend the evening in Atlanta for our 5 year anniversary. We didn't have much time with our cousins wedding, ect., so ATL was the best option for us.

We stayed at the Intercontinental. Such a wonderfully beautiful hotel!! We even had a doorbell for our room....haha! I was amazed.

Phillip was horrible embarrassed for me to take this picture which made it all the better. ;)

We ate at Southern Art which happened to be the restaurant in the bottom of our hotel. Delicious!! They had a ham bar in which Phillip was so intrigued. He loved it! He ordered a certain type of ham as his appetizer.

I decided I wanted my "appetizer" to be this delicious drink!!! Mmm!! It had crushed strawberries in it. So good.

Dessert was even better....12 layer, red velvet, cheesecake!!!

The view from our room the next morning! So pretty!

We ate lunch at the Highland bakery the next day (our favorite...) and then headed home to spend New Years at home with our sweet boy and my parents.

The most delicious sandwich I've ever had!!!!!

We had a wonderful, relaxing time!! We even planned the destination for our 6 year anniversary....Charleston, here we come!!
